VisualCV a Great Way to Get Your Resume Seen
I just became aware of a new resume presentation site called VisualCV. It's a great way to post your resume on the web and share with others. Use it as a network tool to present yourself to potential managers or others in your professional network. You can build some pretty fancy CV's here by uploading all manner of images, documents, videos, and audio to help you showcase yourself to the world.
One of the many neat things about VisualCV is that you can build a pretty extensive file on yourself, allowing you to store everything in one place. Plus, like LinkedIn, you can invite others to join. LinkedIn has a personal url feature that you can opt to use, but I believe there is a cost to that. This site is free.
I'm not a big technophile so I spent just a few minutes and designed my own CV. Within hours of putting my CV up I received a request to share. Don't like long url strings? Simple. Go to TinyURL and get a short one. That way, you don't have to pass a long URL to your contact.
I've only scratched the surface with what you can do here. For instance there is a corporate directory as well a a professional directory that you can use to make internal connections with.
Check it out and see for yourself. You can take it alot further than I have. Let me know what you think.
